GWA opened in 1998 with 52 students; today GWA has more than 700 students from more than thirty nationalities. George Washington Academy is a non-for profit institution that is recognized by both the Moroccan and United States governments as an American school.
The student body counts 710 students today, from K3 (3 year-olds Kindergarten) to 12th Grade. There are over 30 nationalities on campus – roughly 60% Moroccan, 20% American and 20% others.
An American High School diploma is awarded to graduates upon completion of all required courses. To date, there have been 150 student graduates who have been accepted into almost 140 universities. Most students have chosen to attend North American universities, the remaining have pursued higher education elsewhere in Europe, Asia and Africa.
GWA has just under 200 staff, including 12 nationalities – mainly Americans and Moroccans. A majority of administrative and English instructional staff are from North America.
The five-hectare purpose-built facility is located just outside of Casablanca’s city limits.
GWA is a project of a foreign non-profit association registered in Morocco and does not exist as an independent legal entity.
